Sales Team Motivation: How to Maintain a High Level of Motivation

Hi, I’m Dan Fischer with Anthony Cole Training Group. And welcome to this week’s Sales Brew. Our topic is motivation. What side of the bed did you get out of this morning? Did you get off the side where your thoughts were? “Oh, crap. I have to go to work today and do this all over again.” Or the side where your thoughts were? “I can’t wait to get this day started because I’m energized and have a purpose. I have goals to achieve. I’m committed to helping people and the desire to get better.”

Sales leaders. Are you motivating your people? How do you know? Salespeople? Are you motivated, truly motivated, to be as successful as you can be? Motivation. It’s the process that initiates and maintains goal-oriented behavior. It helps you win a particular deal or pushes you to get that promotion. There’s a few ways that people are motivated, and I’m going to touch on two of them. First one is extrinsically. Doing something for financial gain, getting promoted or winning a deal. This motivation comes from outside ourselves. Is this you? Perhaps you’re motivated by this one- intrinsically. Your motivation, it comes from within. Recognition, engaging in activity for enjoyment, and getting personal satisfaction from doing it. Sound like you? Whatever your motivation is in selling and sales management, I encourage you to work with people who inspire you, not bring you down. There’s too much negativity in this world as it is.

So surround yourself with people you like, trust, and motivate you to be the best version of yourself. So I ask you again, what side of the bed did you get out of this morning? What side are you getting out of tomorrow? Now go make it a great day and a great week. All the best.
